German verbs in the present tense describe actions that happen now or regularly. The endings change depending on the person.

1. Regular Verbs

Regular verbs follow a fixed pattern. Example: spielen (to play)

✍️Examples:

ich spiele→I play
du spielst→you play(informal)
er/sie/es spielt→he/she/it plays
wir spielen→we play
ihr spielt→you play(plural)
sie/Sie spielen→they/you play(formal)

2. To Be & To Have

The most important irregular verbs: sein (to be) and haben (to have)

ich bin / ich habe→I am / I have
du bist / du hast→you are / you have
er ist / er hat→he is / he has
wir sind / wir haben→we are / we have
